Key Features

Revolutionary Thunderbolt Technology

Developed by Intel with collaboration from Apple, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O (input/output) technology delivers an amazing 10 gigabits per second of transfer speeds in both directions. Built into the MacBook Pro, the Thunderbolt port allows you to connect to new Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals as well as existing USB and FireWire peripherals using simple adapters. You'll be able to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800, and you can daisy-chain multiple high-speed devices without using a hub.

And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, you'll be able to connect to a high-resolution display from the same port. Any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port, and you can also connect displays that use DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA connections with an existing adapter. You'll also be able to include your display into a daisy-chained set of peripherals.

Intel Core i5
Next-Generation Dual-Core Intel Processor

This MacBook Pro is powered by a second-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor (dubbed "Sandy Bridge"), which provides breakthrough digital media management, content creation, and 3D gaming capabilities. With updated Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, the latest Core i5 increases speed automatically for whatever you're doing, dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload.

Intel's Hyper-Threading Technology enables each core of your processor to work on two tasks at the same time, delivering the performance you need for smart multitasking. Buttonless Multi-Touch Trackpad

With no button on the glass trackpad, there's more room to track and click--left, right, center, and everywhere in between. Without a separate button, the trackpad gives your hands plenty of room to move on the large, silky glass surface. It also incorporates Multi-Touch gestures--including swipe, pinch, rotate, and four-finger swipe. And it also now supports inertial scrolling, an intuitive way to scroll through large photo libraries, lengthy documents and long web sites.

I have been a PC guy forever, but I finally decided that when I upgraded from a Toshiba Satellite that I was going to go with a Mac as I have been using a Mac Mini at work and it is a great little machine.

First and foremost this laptop took a grand total of 15mins to get up and running, and unlike a PC there was no bloatware that needed to be removed. The i5 processor is very fast and is great for multi tasking, I am a web developer and all of my most needed applications like Photoshop or my IDE's have no problems running at once. I give 10 stars on processor speed vs. size, this thing is tiny but in a good way. At about 4lbs. I can comfortable carry this and the power brick (which rocks) without fatigue. Wireless networks are a breeze to connect to and installing apps is a breeze unlike a PC.

Aesthetically this thing is a looker, you can tell that people are checking it out when you boot it up in public, not that it matters that much but it is a bonus. I read some great reviews on this little beast prior to buying and decided on it over the iMac 27 inch because of the portability which is second to none.

At a starting price of under $1200 I really don't see how you could not get this thing, they have a higher end 13 inch model but the differences between it and the base model are nominal, so I would advise grabbing this peppy little machine while you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Apple Macbook Pro,

This review is from: Apple MacBook Pro MC700LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (Personal Computers)
The build is incredible. I love feeling the aluminum body all over my skin. I even took it to bed with me the first day. I was simply astounded when I heard about the processor boost, but at what cost. I wish Intel would have never got in the graphic business. Now, if it was all about graphics, I would of just bought a PC. Anyway, thunderbolt is not revolutionary, as there is not a single adapter available in the market today. It is useless. Kind of reminds of the gigabyte port I never use. USB 3.0 would have been more realistic, but maybe thunderbolt will have a USB 3.0 adapter or better yet, maybe thunderbolt will replace USB 3.0.

What about the display? It is completely outdated and for good reason. The IGP is just ridiculously slow and probably can't support higher resolutions. Mac books aren't meant for gaming, I know, but at this price; I expect to see improved graphics (at minimum). I believe this goes hand in hand with the display resolution issue. Poor graphics will not allow apple to support a high resolution screen smoothly enough. Intel's HD 3000 IGP is categorized under the, "poor to entry level" graphics hierarchy. Nvidia's 520 IGP is said to run 5x faster than Intel's new Sandy Bridge IGP, if that say's anything. Obviously this would have been a better choice, but Intel and Nvidia have had extensive court quarrellings. At the end of the day, the 320 graphics sucked and so do Nvidia's new 520m's. If you are looking for a gaming notebook, look at P.C.'s, I can't even recommend the new 15 inch mac's because OSX just wasn't meant for gamers.

So what's is good about my new mac book pro? A processor jump, HD camera (looks like crap) and thunderbolt. Take away thunderbolt and you have a mediocre upgrade aimed to create profits. Needless to say, I'm content. I just wish I would have waited for Lion OSX and free Ipod with my purchase to make it worth my while. Regardless, I'm getting this Notebook because Apple has a track record of building quality machines with above average battery performance. This is a must for a full time student like me, who is always on the go.

From Gaming PC to Mac Pro and I'm quite impressed!,

I have been a PC user all of my life. As I've gotten a bit older I find that I need a laptop more often than a Gaming Desktop. I considered getting a gaming notebook, but none of them have a decent battery and most have quite a few issues with heat and durability.

I decided to go for the new Mac Pro and seeing the specs and hearing rave reviews of older models from friends. I'm so glad that I did! The one PC game I couldn't make it without(Starcraft II) works just fine on OSX as well as in Parallels.

I am a web developer so I've heard from friends in that field about how nice the Mac software is compared to Windows equivalents. I tried Coda and absolutely love it. There are several programs that I've switched to that are as good if not better than the Windows counterparts.

The construction of the MBP is outstanding. It feels incredibly sturdy and capable of lasting the tides of time.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed. I've always felt that calling something expensive meant that you didn't agree that the value was worth the cost.
If anything the Mac is undervalued based on what I've experienced!

What a treat, this little one does not dissapoint,

This review is from: Apple MacBook Pro MC700LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (Personal Computers)
After my 2007 MacBook Pro just died (it was the 15" version with the silver keys) I knew that I needed to replace it. I have been so done with PC products that replacing with a PC was not even an option. I have grown to love Apple products and the OS X operating system over the past few years and have found no problems switching the entire household to purely Mac. It's been a pleasant, no-brainer experience all around. This little guy is FAST!

About this sweet little notebook. It certainly is light, aesthetically pleasing with the unibody and thin. The keyboard (compared to the silver keyboard from my former MacBook Pro) is so nice to use. The travel between keys is perfect and the 13" Mac keyboard perfectly mimics the wireless bluetooth keyboard I have set up for my 21.5" iMac. Right out of the box my fingers knew where to fly. No crossovers on the letters as sometimes happened with the older version. The spacing provides perfect typing and travel ... a pleasant surprise in such a small package!

The screen is vivid and clear. I was concerned perhaps that 13" was not going to be large enough for me to do much work on. Not so, the screen clarity and brightness allow for work with ease. I am in love with this little notebook and complimented it with the Speck Products See Thru Satin, Soft Touch Hard Shell Case, for 13-inch MacBook Aluminum Unibody/Black Keyboard MB13AUSAT-BLK-D (Black) - DOES NOT FIT WHITE MACBOOK case for protection and style. I have to say that this just makes the MacBook Pro a little bit more "me".

I find that the battery life is awesome and that even with hours of use it does not run as warm as I might have expected it to. This is such a joy!

I couldn't be more pleased. As I have learned though from owning iPhone's to iPad's ... I never buy a product now without the AppleCare to go along with it. One just never knows. I happened to have a strange Lemon with my 2007 MacBook Pro that went through 3 Logic boards (all covered). I wouldn't buy a Mac without the service plan. Not because they are bad products but because you just never do know.

I'm a web geek and I play on my computers hard. It's nice to own and use a line of computers that can live up to all the stuff that I throw at them and still survive. I cannot say the same about any line of PC's that I have owned ... and I am not just saying that because I use Macs. I am one of those converts that crashed enough Dell and IBM PC's ... so I speak as a geek whose been on both sides of the aisle and understands both sides.

5 Stars!
